Roland Escher: Professional

Roland Escher is a licensed attorney and corporate governance expert. Roland currently heads the German research team as well as international policy formation for the ISS Governance Services unit of RiskMetrics Group (now NYSE listed). As a member of the global research department, he covers German, Swiss, and Austrian public companies. Recently, Roland has been a frequent speaker on governance topics.
Roland earned his B.A. from Amherst College and a J.D. from The Catholic University of America. He is also an active member of the District of Columbia Bar. His professional experience spans international development work in Mali, West Africa, securities and project finance work for a New York law firm, and legal work at two securities regulatory bodies in Washington, DC.

Roland Escher's main fields of interest are:

• Corporate and Securities Law: Roland would love to practice in a law firm, for a consulting firm, or for a private equity group, with a focus on securities transactions, investment management, and corporate governance
• Non-Profit Organizations: Roland would also join the exempt organizations group of a law firm or the legal staff of a non-profit; he is particularly interested in environmental protection, organizational governance, and civil society development
